Cleaning Textured Floors

Lots of water is need for deep cleaning

Some of the latest trends in Interior Design include the use of floor tiles with a texture to them. If your commercial space in the GTA, including Vaughan, Woodbridge and Concord happen to have such a design feature, you need to be aware that cleaning these types of floors may require a slightly different technique.

Floors that have grout and a texture to them have a tendency to collect soil and dust in these areas. The way to clean such a floor is to use a lot of water, employing a technique called “Flood Mopping” to remove the embedded soil. This is done by using extra water to float the soil and suspend it in the water, then removing the excess water and soil. Mopping this type of floor in this way helps keep it looking as clean as possible.

The first step is to liberally apply a mopping solution of cleaner and water. This will cause the dirt to loosen and be lifted by the water. There should almost be a thin puddle of water that you can see. Wipe the floor with the mop and then thoroughly wring it out. You may need to repeat several times and then finally finish the job with a dryer mop.
