In 2003 managed and supervised for a large janitorial company. With all the years of experience behind me I decided to start my own janitorial company in 2008 and that was when Clean-Slate Janitorial was created. Add me to your G+ Profile

Cleaning Textured Floors

Lots of water is need for deep cleaning

Some of the latest trends in Interior Design include the use of floor tiles with a texture to them. If your commercial space in the GTA, including Vaughan, Woodbridge and Concord happen to have such a design feature, you need to be aware that cleaning these types of floors may require a slightly different technique.

Floors that have grout and a texture to them have a tendency to collect soil and dust in these areas. The way to clean such a floor is to use a lot of water, employing a technique called “Flood Mopping” to remove the embedded soil. This is done by using extra water to float the soil and suspend it in the water, then removing the excess water and soil. Mopping this type of floor in this way helps keep it looking as clean as possible.

The first step is to liberally apply a mopping solution of cleaner and water. This will cause the dirt to loosen and be lifted by the water. There should almost be a thin puddle of water that you can see. Wipe the floor with the mop and then thoroughly wring it out. You may need to repeat several times and then finally finish the job with a dryer mop.

Cleaning textured floors can be a challenge. That’s why it might be a good idea to hire the services of cleaning professionals. At Clean Slate Janitorial Services, we are bonded, insured and know all the right techniques to make your space sparkle. Contact us today at 416 509 7454 for a free estimate.

Price Estimates for Janitorial Services in Vaughan and the GTA

Cleaning Services Vary in Approach

The average cost for the services of a professional Janitoral Service varies greatly.  Depending on the size of the market, competition and area that a business is in, what commercial firms with various spaces pay can vary. The Greater Toronto Area, which include Vaughan, Woodbridge and areas like Concord, is large and there are many professional cleaning services to choose from.

There are several ways that professional cleaners calculate costs. First of all, you need to determine the square footage of the area that needs to be cleaned. Next, you need to determine the tasks that should be done daily, weekly or monthly. For example, basic tasks may include window washing, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, washing the walls, washing the doors, dusting, cleaning of the desks, chairs and the general reception area.

A one time cleaning job can command a higher rate than a regular ongoing contract. Fees can range from $200 and up. The only way you can get an accurate assessment of what cleaning your property will cost is by calling up such a service and getting an estimate. You will also need to actually use the service, evaluate the end result and then determine if it is good value. Of course there are many other considerations other than the cost when choosing a Janitorial Service, but it’s a good idea to get an sense of what the market rates are.

If you are looking for expert cleaning at an affordable rate, contact Clean-Slate Janitorial Services for a free estimate. We are base in Vaughan, but serve the GTA, including Woodbridge and Concord. Should You Ask your Employees to Clean Up After Themselves?

Employees can also help clean the space

It’s not easy being a facility manager for a commercial space and no matter the size of your company, a question that comes up is whether or not employees should be active in keeping the space clean.

Companies that use the services of Professional Cleaners like Clean-Slate Janitorial Services may still consider asking employees to clean up after themselves, even if there is someone that cleans in the evening afterwards. This does not have to be a deep cleaning, but simple wipes and removal of garbage and debris. A little bit of effort throughout the days goes a long way to helping an office look orderly.

There are several reasons why it’s a good idea to ask your employees to keep not only their own desk area clean, but the common areas like the kitchen clean:

-It improves company moral when the space is clean throughout the day

-It reduces employee tensions when the space is left clean for the next person to use

-It helps develop good habits that lead to employees developing a more community-oriented outlook

-It reduces extra cleaning that the janitors may have to do, thereby reducing the cost to the company

Cleanliness as a habit is something that companies should encourage. Discipline, respect and high standards are ideals that make for the most successful companies. At Clean-Slate Janitorial Services, we meet and exceed industry standards for professional cleaning. Contact us today at 416 509 7454 for a free estimate.
